 | We are a 501c3 non-profit organization that knows it's not just about donating...it's about offering sustainable solutions to extreme poverty and everything that comes with it. We know that each individual is capable of contributing to change. Each individual is capable of making extreme poverty a thing of the past. We understand that we CANNOT take for granted the lifestyle we are fortunate to have. We know that with one less needless flush a day, a family of four saves approximately 6800 gallons of water a year. We know that turning of the tap while brushing our teeth could save a few gallons of water a day…we remember that there are women in the world who walk miles a day just to get water. | |
| | This is perhaps what is most interesting about Barnabian's Cove. We have a developed a 5 step process that seeks to really understand the issues faced by a local community; understand the implications, and develop sustainable solutions. - Problem definition
- Context definition
- Planning/solution design
- Implementation
- Impact assessment
We employ the Participatory Rural Appraisal Approach. That's just a fancy way of saying that instead of assuming that WE have the solutions, we involve the locals.

| | It is already happening. Progress is being made. This is not a losing battle. Our hats go off to the hundreds of organizations in the world who are involved in elimination world poverty in one way or the other. Progress is being made! For example, according to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals report (2008), over 400 million people in Asia have gained access to improved drinking water sources. Also, according to the 2007 report, infant mortality (under 5 mortality rate per 100 live births) reduced from 185 to 166 between 1995 and 2005. That means that on average, 19 more children in every 1000 got to live past 5yrs old. | | |
